Melksham School Comes Together to Lift Spirits on Mental Health Week
Starting on 18th May, people across the country have been taking part in events surrounding Mental Health Week.
Participating children and staff at The Manor CE Primary School in Melksham made artworks in order to spread some joy around the town.
Although the school is still partially closed, it has remained open to the children of key workers. After a lot of hard work, the pupils at the school proudly displayed their beautiful handprint rainbow to thank key workers.
While the children in school were creating their rainbow display, children staying at home also made their own artworks that have been put up on the school fence. To allow every child to get involved safely, the staff at The Manor placed a makeshift letter box outside the school, which children posted their artwork in.
Rounding off a fun week, on Friday, the school distributed tubes of bubbles for all the children to enjoy over
the weekend.
Hannah Gordon, headteacher at The Manor, said: “We really want to spread kindness through Melksham during these unusual times. As it is mental health week, we want to raise awareness of being kind and supporting each other in any way we can. The rainbow and the artwork which the children have created is lovely for our local community to look at on their daily walk.”
The Manor CE Primary School is a member of The White Horse Federation multi-academy trust, which also
congratulated the staff and children on their wonderful initiative.
