MELKSHAM Carnival organisers are urging local groups and businesses to start thinking now about how they can get involved in this year’s celebrations.
This year’s carnival procession is taking place one month earlier than normal, on Saturday 29th June. The move has been made due to security reasons, but organisers are hopeful that the June date will encourage more participants.
Carnival press officer, Christine York, told Melksham News, “Because the carnival date has been moved forward this year, people need to start thinking now about what they are going to do for the procession – we don’t want people to get caught out and run out of time!”
Committee chair, Becky Burchell added, “Last year’s carnival was one of the biggest yet and we would like to keep building on that, but we need your help. Entries are open for the carnival procession so whether you are a group, business or individual, give it some thought and come and join the fun. It doesn’t have to be a float, do up a bike, a trolley or just walk! Every year the carnival is the biggest event in the Melksham town calendar. Thousands of people line the streets, which makes it a brilliant opportunity to promote your businesses or clubs.
“The entry form for the procession can be downloaded on the www.melkshamcarnival.co.uk. Please get them filled in and back to us as soon as you are able. For more details message the committee at:
