Melksham Town kick off their season with a trip to Fleet Town on Saturday 8th August in the FA Cup.
Their Southern League Division One season starts with a home tie against the relegated side Hungerford Town on Tuesday 11th August with a 7.45pm kick off. This is followed by a visit to Exmouth Town on Saturday 15th August before a cup and league double header against another relegated side, Weymouth.
First, Town travel to Dorset in the FA Trophy on the 29th August, before the league encounter at the Meads of Melksham Community Football Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August.
The festive season sees Town host Westbury United on Boxing Day and a trip to Weymouth on the 2nd January while they finish the season with a home tie against Slimbridge on Saturday 17th April
Town complete their pre-season with a game against Bath City on Tuesday 28th July as Melksham News goes to press. It’s a match re-arranged from Saturday.
Last Friday, 24th July, the Black and Yellow came away with a 2-1 win against Yate at the Meads Of Melksham Community Football Stadium with goals from James Ollis and Kitan Jaiyeoba.
The previous Tuesday, 21st July, Town defeated Devizes Town 3-1 with two goals from James Ollis and one from new signing Max Williams.
On Saturday 18th July, Town went down 3-1 in a tough encounter at Chippenham Town in the Ian Monnery Cup but got the better of Fairford in another pre-season friendly with a 3-0 home win on Tuesday 14th July.
Sandwiched in the middle, it finished Thommo’s XI 4 Melksham Legends XI 4 in a testimonial for long-serving player David Thompson on Friday 17th July.
A Luke Ballinger brace, James Vincent and Will Christopher put the Legends 4-3 up at half-time, with a Gary Higdon brace and Twaine Plummer with the goals for Thommo’s XI.
It looked like the Melksham Legends XI were going to take victory, but there was a late twist. Substitute Dan Blake’s 88th minute header levelled the game and ensured it would finish all square.
