Melksham & District Link Scheme held their second annual summer party on Saturday 12th August.
Jeanette Nash, press and publicity officer said, “The event was kindly hosted and organised by Richard and Madeleine Bell in their beautiful garden. Food was provided by everyone and some people also brought along extra tables and chairs, so there was plenty of room for everyone. After very unsettled weather throughout the week, Saturday was glorious!
“There were volunteers old and new and it was a great opportunity for people to get to know each other and in some cases, put a face to the voice on the other end of the phone. Everyone enjoyed themselves, time to relax, chat and partake of the delicious food. The variety of food was scrumptious and special thanks must go to Philip of Newman’s Butchers, for kindly slicing the joints of ham and beef, free of charge.
“After such a successful gathering it is hoped that this can be repeated next summer and of course that the sun will shine on us once again!
“Melksham & District Link Scheme are always looking for more volunteers, mainly drivers and transport co-ordinators; perhaps you could only spare one afternoon or morning a week, that’s fine, don’t be shy, give us a call we would love to hear from you.”
