A packed programme of free and low-cost summer activities is on offer for children and young people at King George V Park in Melksham throughout the summer holidays.
Organised by Melksham Town Council in partnership with local clubs and organisations, the sessions aim to keep young people active, engaged and entertained throughout the summer. Most events take place at accessible venues in and around the park, with something available almost every week.
Highlights include:
Skate event at the skate park, funded by ATB – Monday 11th August, 10am to 3pm
Rugby with Melksham Rugby Club – Wednesday 6th August – Ages 6 to 11: 10am to 12pm, Ages 12 to 16: 1pm to 3pm
Football with Future of Football – Mondays 4th, 11th and 18th August, 10am to 2pm (ages 6 to 12)
Circus skills with Clare’s Circus – Wednesday 13th August, 11am to 2pm
Inflatables fun day with Jolly Jumpers – Wednesday 20th August, 10am to 2pm
Pottery painting with Arty Kids – Wednesday 27th August, 10am to 3pm
Weekly sessions include:
USGIRLS sessions – Fridays from 1pm to 2pm for girls in school years 8 to 11, offering fun sports such as yoga, dancecise, combat sports and gym (organised by Wiltshire Council)
Football with Football Fun Factory – Tuesdays, 10am to 2pm (ages 4+)
SEN splash pad play sessions – Wednesdays, 11am to 12pm
There will also be sessions specifically for neurodivergent young people aged 14+, under the name The Hideout, organised by Wiltshire Council. Activities include multi-sports, dance, football, and paddleboarding:
Melksham Adventure Centre – Mondays 4th, 11th and 18th August, 9.30am to 12.30pm
Melksham Rugby Club – Wednesdays 6th, 13th and 20th August, 9.30am to 12.30pm
