A series of music and comedy shows are coming to Melksham Assembly Hall over the coming weeks.
Cilla & The Swinging 60s Show takes place on Sunday 16th August, celebrating the life and music of Cilla Black.
Organisers say, “Starring the unforgettable voice of Sandy Smith, along with her incredible dancers, the show will take you on a rollercoaster journey through many of the greatest pop songs of the 60s including Cilla’s own chart toppers ‘Anyone Who Had A Heart’ “Alfie” and ‘You’re My World’.”
Following the Tina Turner Experience (see opposite page), The Carpenters Experience will take to the stage on Friday 4th September.
The show features the voice of Maggie Nestor alongside eight musicians and aims to capture the sights and sounds of Richard and Karen Carpenter.
Organisers say, “Karen’s silky contralto is combined with Richard’s delightful piano and seamless harmonies in this big production that brings Close to You, We’ve only Just Begun, Top of the World, Rainy Days and Mondays, Solitaire, Goodbye to Love, Please Mr Postman, For All We Know, Only Yesterday and dozens more classic songs to the stage.”
Also coming to the Assembly Hall is comedian Rich Hall, with his show Chin Music on Friday 18th September.
Organisers say, “’Chin Music’ has two meanings. One is idle talk. The other is a brushback throw in baseball or cricket to intimidate the batter. Both describe Rich Hall’s comedy. Idle but intimidating. Sharp, quick, splenetic, and sublimely improvisational.”
