Suspected drug taking concerns Melksham residents

MELKSHAM residents have voiced their concern after they say a parkland area had become a “landfill site for youths to feed their drug habit.” 

Stephen Rolfe, one of those concerned, contacted the Melksham News after he had found a parkland area opposite Dorset Crescent and Primrose Drive repeatly covered in litter and drug paraphernalia. He sent images showing the extent of the litter problem and some items that seem to have been used to take drugs.

He says he informed a  local councillor and shared images almost a month ago but no action had still been taken to solve the issue before Wiltshire Council stepped in.

Stephen said, “The council has endeavoured to ensure it is clean with the placing of rubbish bins and the Environmental Agency has taken great lengths to clean out the brook. So why should we have to put up with a small group who have no respect at all for the environment? Wouldn’t it be ironic if any of those students who frequent the area are studying  environmental studies at school

“The area is abound with wildlife. I have personally listed all manner of wild birds including woodpeckers, kingfishers and visitors from Europe in the way of fieldfares and waxwings.”

Wilshire Police has been informed of the suspected drug taking and Wiltshire Council, have now cleared the area after the images were sent to the since the Melksham News

Stephen praised the work of Wiltshire Council in clearing the rubbish, he said, “An excellent job has been carried out by Wiltshire Council and on behalf of all those responsible dog owners I would like to say thank you.”
