THE sixth Melksham Food and Drink Festival will be serving up a range of tasty treats as it takes place next weekend.
The popular event will be held over the weekend of the 14th and 15th June with the festival split into two days with Littlefest taking place on the Saturday and the Rotary Big Breakfast and the Festival Fair taking place on the Sunday.
Littlefest takes place on Saturday 14th June between 10.00am-3.00pm at the Littlebrook Centre, near Waitrose who are headline sponsors of the event.
The event is described by organisers as a “Nostalgic day of tastings, activities and sweets with Waitrose and local businesses in an Olde Worlde theme.”
Businesses taking part include Waitrose who will be providing a picnic-themed day of outdoor eating with delicious tasters.
Candy Jax with a welcome to the 60s theme with some sumptuous sweets. CJ’s Cafe who will serve up a taste of yesteryear with old fashioned homemade cakes and Honey’s with ‘It’s all Greek to me’ theme with their Greek tasters. On Sunday 15th June Melksham Food and Drink Festival kicks off with the Rotary Big Breakfast.
The Rotary Club will again host the Big Breakfast at the Art House Café from 9.00am-2.00pm. A hot five-course cooked breakfast will cost £7.50 and all profits go to support the Bath Royal United Hospital Scanner Appeal. The breakfast is supported by Sandridge Farmhouse Bacon in Bromham and the Spar store, Spa Road, Melksham.
Melksham Food and Drink Festival culminates with the popular Food Festival Fair, with over 60 stalls and attractions in the grounds of Melksham House and Assembly Hall from 11.00am until 4.00pm.
The day will feature plenty of food stalls, cooking demonstrations, talks, free tastings as well as a range of activities for children including bouncy castle, face painting and baby animals from Dave and Ewe.
From 11.00am Wessex Contraband a popular three-piece folk band from Melksham will be playing throughout the day. Their repertoire ranges from lively Irish tunes to gentle ballads. Between them, they play banjo, guitar, fiddle, mandolian, whistle, melodeon, bodhran and accordion with an accomplished sound and humorous delivery.

“We have just secured an additional £410 for Melksham Food and Drink Festival through our Community Matters scheme which is great news, and shows that the Food and Drink Festival is something the community really values.”
