Two Melksham residents who teach at Wiltshire College and University Centre have been recognised for their outstanding contribution at the college’s annual staff awards.
Keileigh Thomas has been a lecturer in beauty for over nine years, and Kat Vulakovaki has taught English for nearly three years. Both received Outstanding Teaching awards after being selected by a judging panel.
“I am honoured to have been awarded for Outstanding Teaching – it’s always a pleasure to be recognised,” said Keileigh, who was awarded for her dedication to teaching, with her student groups ending the academic year with exceptional exam results.
Kat Vulakovaki said it was a privilege to receive her award and be recognised for ‘empathy, dedication and inclusive teaching.’ She said, “The cheering of my wider colleagues on the day will resonate with me forever.”
Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Wiltshire College & University Centre, Iain Hatt, presented the awards and said, “This year, we’ve seen many impressive projects, examples of community engagement, fundraising and positive contributions to our college community.
“Staff have played a key role in supporting events and activities across all campuses and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who has contributed to the success of the college.”

Held at the college’s Lackham campus, more than 850 professional and curriculum staff took part in a review of performance and progress as part of their annual self-assessment process, followed by an awards ceremony and lunch.
In the run-up to the event, staff submitted more than 150 peer nominations across four categories – Outstanding Teaching, Student Experience, College Community and Team of the Year. A judging panel selected 22 winners for their exceptional contributions.
