QUEENSWAY Chapel Family Centre has received nearly £4,000 from the Co-op.
Sally Oliver, manager of the family centre said, “About 15 months ago we applied to be one of the Co-op Local Causes.
“We, along with the School of Gymnastics and Friends of Forest and Sandridge school, were chosen to be the Local Causes from 1st October 2017 to 30th September 2018.
“The money in the Local Causes fund comes from people using their Co-op cards. 1% of the money members spend on Co-op branded goods goes into the fund. Members can then go online and pick which cause they want their 1% to go to. If they don’t pick one, then their 1% is shared equally between all three causes.
“Last month (November 2018) we received, a huge £3,987.60. We are going to spend this money on buying new play equipment and sensory toys for our play sessions. As we received a lot more money than we expected, we are also asking the people who attend Queensway Chapel Family Centre what they would like to see us spend money on.
In total, the three Local Causes received £11,939.58 between us.
“We are so grateful to the Co-op for picking us to be one of their local causes. This money will make a big different to us and all that come to our sessions.”
