THE Melksham Community Bus group is now able to resume some of its services including Friday and Saturday shopping trips and a day trip to Weymouth.
The group report, “The shopper buses are now back on the road on Thursdays and Fridays. As before we are offering a Thursday trip for shopping to local towns Chippenham, Devizes or Trowbridge.
“Dates for the Thursday trips as follows: 29th April Chippenham; 6th May Devizes; 13th May Trowbridge.
“The bus will pick you up from home and take you to the destination where you can spend time shopping or whatever you want. The bus will then collect you from the pick up point and return you to your home. Our driver will even help you carry shopping to your door.
“The Friday service is to Sainsbury’s in Melksham. As with Thursday, the bus will collect you from home and return you after a stop at Sainsbury’s.
“These services are free to holders of a bus pass. If you would like to use the Community Bus please call the Tourist Information Centre on 01225 707424 or drop in at 32, Church Street, Melksham to book a seat.
“At present we are restricted to a maximum of 8 people. Sorry, but under the present restrictions we cannot accommodate wheel-chairs due to space issues.
“As many people will be aware, we previously offered a range of very popular day trips. This was stopped as a result of Covid-19 restrictions. We are now planning to reintroduce them, starting with a day trip to Weymouth on Saturday June 5th.
“We need to gauge interest in this trip, so if you would like to come along please contact the Tourist Information office to register your wish to come. The cost will be £25 per head. Pick ups will be from convenient points near you, as with the shopper buses
