A CURVES in Avonside, Melksham, has an array of events planned for October – all to raise money to help fight breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research. Curves, the fitness centre for just women has a jam-packed schedule of events throughout October.
Last year the team raised £2,863 for the charity, but this year the team are aiming higher.
“We want to hit £3,000 this year,” said manager Sue Armstrong. “October is a great month to join us at Curves Melksham because not only are you going to get fitter and healthier, you are also helping raise money for charity – come help us reach our target!
“We have so many exciting events planned including a coffee morning on Monday 22nd October from 8.30am until 11.30am. Why not come along, have a coffee or tea, raise money for a great cause and find out more about the health benefits of what we do at Curves.
“Staff and members have already enjoyed a Ladies Day this week as part of the fundraising activities with Pink Boutique selling wonderful products – 10% of sales will be donated to Breast Cancer Care.
“There is still time to take part in our raffle, which will be running throughout the month – there are some fantastic prizes to be won.”
Curves is also waiving all service fees in October when customers sign up. In return, a donation of £20 is recommended to Breast Cancer Care.
