THE Environment Agency will be carrying out routine vegetation clearance work on the River Avon.
Work will take place along the section of the river between King George V Park and Conigre Mead nature reserve. A start date is yet to be confirmed, but it is hoped that the work will be completed by the end of June.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency told Melksham News, “The reason we do any type of vegetation clearance (strimming etc) is to maintain conveyance of water through the area and keep vegetation on the banks under control. This helps to prevent flooding.”
