Two Melksham-based motorcycle racers have finished in the top ten at the ACU National Post Classic Grand Prix at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
Broughton Gifford’s Darrell Higgins and local business owner Richard Dobson, who owns Melksham-based Moto 44 motorcycle sales, took part in three races over the weekend of 12th and 13th April, finishing in the top ten overall.
A spokesperson for the drivers, Paul Korkus, said, “Darrell Higgins competed in the ACU National Post Classic Grand Prix 250/350cc events. In his first race on his Dennis Trollope-backed TZ 350cc Yamaha, Darrell finished in 11th place, and in his second race he achieved his best result of the meeting, finishing in seventh place.
“Richard Dobson had his first-ever race on a 250cc machine in the ACU National 125cc, 250cc and DTR 250cc Cup races.
“In the past, Richard has competed in the National 1000cc Superstock Championship, which is a support race at the British Superbike Championship, and he looked forward to the new challenge.
“In his first race, he had a great wheel-to-wheel dice with Nicholas Anderson and crossed the line in sixth place, with Nicholas Anderson in seventh. In their second race, the two again had a great dice, and Nicholas Anderson got the better of Richard Dobson, crossing the line in fifth and sixth places respectively.
“The third and final race of the weekend saw the two again locked in another great dice, with both notching up their best result of the weekend — Nicholas Anderson in fourth place and Richard Dobson in fifth.”
