TOPS salon raised over £300 for Melksham Christmas Lights group by raffling off a John Lewis Christmas hamper over the festive period.
The hamper was won by Colette Hillier and proceeds from the raffle ticket sales all went to the volunteer group who put up the award winning Christmas lights display. Customers of the salon raised £310.
Alex Stevens at TOPS said, “It feels really good to give back to a local group that benefits the town. We knew we wanted to raise money for a charity, so we decided to go local.
“The money raised for the Melksham Christmas Lights helps the group to remain independent and continue to put up our displays each year. We expect an extra big display above TOPS this year!
“The group is led completely by volunteers who are out all weathers to bring us the displays. As soon as people realised who we were raising money for, they were so generous.”
Len Bealing, on behalf of the Melksham Christmas Lights Group said, “It’s great receiving this money from TOPS. We are very lucky that we have had a lot of help from local businesses this year – that helps a great deal.
“We are truly grateful as it helps us to retain our independence, we all thoroughly enjoy putting up the displays and long may it continue. The displays are hugely appreciated by people in the town and we hugely appreciate their support.”
