MELKSHAM will be entering South West in Bloom this summer.
The annual competition includes towns and villages across the South West and is the regional version of Britain in Bloom. Judges will be looking for quality in floral displays, town cleanliness and community involvement.
Melksham Town Council already runs the very successful annual Melksham in Bloom competition which is open to all local businesses, schools and individuals.
Building on the success of Melksham in Bloom and the impressive floral displays throughout the town centre, the whole town will be entered in South West in Bloom in July.
“Entering the competition provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate what Melksham already does so well,” said Pam Wiltshire, Chair of the Town Development Committee of Melksham Town Council. “We already have a town full of great flowers provided by businesses, individuals and the council, and we plan to work together with groups and partners to showcase the beautiful areas of Melksham.”
A small committee are working on the bid and preparing a one hour route through Melksham to show the judges in mid July. If anyone has any ideas or would like to join the committee please get in touch with Miriam at the Town Hall on 01225 704187 or email miriam.zaccarelli@melkshamtown.co.uk.
People are invited to get involved in preparations for the event. A South West In Bloom Committee meeting will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 11th June at the Town Hall, and a community gardening day will be held on Saturday 22nd June in which various areas on the proposed route will be tended. This will start from the Town Hall at 10am and is open to anyone. For more information and to keep up with developments, have a look at the Melksham Town Council website, www.melkshamtown.co.uk
