MELKSHAM Town hosted Tavistock in the Southern League South on Saturday 10th February, reports club chairman Darren Perrin.
The ground staff did a fantastic job to get the game played and for the pitch to be in good condition considering the significant rainfall of the last couple of months.
Town entered the game short of confidence after a poor month of results and should have taken the lead early on through Ben Brooks, who somehow missed from four yards when it seemed easier to score. Tavistock took the lead midway through the first half with a strike from distance and held the lead going into half-time.
In the second-half, Town again had the majority of possession and missed another good chance and in the last minute, were denied a clear penalty by the match referee, which shocked and angered the home team and supporters and even surprised the Tavistock officials.
Another very disappointing result but today the Town did not deserve this result. The team are certainly in a bit of a rut at the moment and things do not get any easier this coming weekend when they make their longest journey of the season to Mousehole in Cornwall.
Town are at home on Saturday 24th February when Willand Rovers are the visitors to the Oakfield Stadium sponsored by Hadley.
During this difficult period, the club would like to thank our amazing supporters who stick with the club through the good and bad days; it is greatly appreciated.
The previous week on 3rd February, Town went down 4-1 away at Yate Town. Town’s goal came from Ralph Graham.
