A PARAMEDIC from Melksham with a passion of helping others has taken a new direction and opened a beauty salon, honing her skills of caring for others by pampering them and offering beauty treatments.
The Hive of Beauty is owned by Claire, a single mum of three who is also a serving paramedic for Melksham and has been for 23 years. She said, “The Hive of Beauty is a new business on the outskirts of Melksham. It has a home-from-home atmosphere where each client is welcomed and treated individually with the sole use of the salon for their appointment. The aim is relaxation as well as treatments that does what they say they will.
“I still work as a paramedic but wanted to create the ability to work around my children in a more sociable way. I retrained as a beautician and found the love of pampering others is very similar to being a paramedic in the fact that I still serve the community and make people feel better just in a different way.”
With a love of all things beautiful, Claire is passionate about nature and was inspired to open a salon that was kind to the environment and she named the business to reflect this.
Claire said, “The name ‘The Hive of Beauty’ comes from my love of nature and the natural beauty found in everyone. The salon is an eco-salon using ethically sourced and ecological friendly products and equipment. With free onsite parking right outside, there is easy access for the older clients or clients with disabilities, and with free wi-fi you really could spend a whole day being pampered from head to foot!”
The salon’s offering is not just for women. “Male clients are equally welcomed and any treatments can easily be adapted if required,” said Claire.
Along with her salon work, Claire also offers party packages. “I can do home parties for hen dos, birthdays or just a complete girly pamper party in the client’s home or venue of choice,” she said. “As a make-up artist as well, I can create a complete bespoke package for your special day or event.
