The town’s charity that provides transport to and from medical appointments will be running a skeleton service over the Christmas period.
Melksham and District Link will be operating with limited availabilty from Monday 23rd December to Thursday 2nd January and phone lines will only be answered for a very short period during this time and not at all on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Chair Liz Rowley said, “Don’t worry if you are already booked in but we will be limiting our trips during that period. We will be back to normal from Thursday 2nd January when our phone line is open again from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. As always please give us plenty of notice when we requesting a trip.
“Our drivers and coordinators have had a very busy year with well over 1,000 trips to the Royal United Hospital alone. So, we will be giving all our volunteers a little bit of respite over the festive season.
“We hope you all have a peaceful and healthy Christmas and wish you all the very best for 2025.”
