TWO men were arrested in Melksham last week on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
About the arrests made on Tuesday 30th November, the police report, “At approximately 8.40pm, officers spotted a vehicle being driven in Weavers Crofts. The passenger of the vehicle was seen to decamp while the driver was stopped by officers. A drugs dog was used to search the area and a large bag of suspected cocaine and scales were located nearby.
“A man in his 30s from Semington was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, driving other than in accordance of a licence, no insurance and taking a vehicle without consent.
“A man in his 20s from Trowbridge detained nearby was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.”
Inspector Rachel Hardy said, “The aim of Operation Fortitude is to identify and track the most serious or prolific crime types across the county, and ensure that everything is being done to stop offenders and ensure they face justice.
“We are committed to disrupting the supply of class A drugs in Wiltshire which nearly always involves exploitation of some of the most vulnerable people within our communities. This will not be tolerated and this was a good proactive stop by officers last night which resulted in a quantity of suspected class A drugs being seized.”
