A LOCAL group of ukulele-playing mums have been added to this year’s Party in the Park line-up.
Bruce Burry of PITP says, “I am delighted to announce that ‘The Mother Pluckers’ will be entertaining us with a mix of pop, rock, country and indie music at this year’s Melksham Party in the Park on Saturday 21st July in King George V Playing Field
“The group first started in 2014, when a group of mums, living in Box and Atworth, picked up ukuleles for the first time and embarked on a journey of musical mayhem, aided and abetted by their teacher and band member, Deborah Emberson.
“Four years, gallons of tea (and wine), lots of laughter, a few tears, road trips and a baby later, the ‘Mother Pluckers’ are well and truly still plucking. With many performances now under their belts from the Pill Ukulele Experience to supporting the Ukulele Funhouse Orchestra plus many impromptu sing-a-longs in pubs around the South West.”
Entry fees to PITP this year will be £6 (for 16 years old and above), £3 for 11 to 15 year olds, and free to children under 11 years of age.
