Residents are being encouraged to help with making the town look presentable through litter picking from their front doors or joining in with monthly Town Tidy Days.
The Town Tidy Days are organised by the Melksham Bloomers group, which meets outside the town hall once a month to litter pick the surrounding area.
All equipment is provided and those taking part should wear comfortable, appropriate footwear and bring gloves. The next dates for the last Town Tidy Days of the year are Sunday 3rd November and Sunday 8th December. Meet outside the town hall for the event, which runs from 1pm to 3pm.
“Why not start your litter picking from your front door on your way to meet the Bloomers outside Melksham Town Hall just before 1pm,” says the town council’s communications officer, Sarah Askew.
“Alternatively, if you are looking for a way to play your part from your own home, now is the perfect time to cut back any overhanging branches from your property before nesting season begins again.”
