TO commemorate the fallen soldiers of World War One from the Melksham area, around 200 trees will be planted this Saturday, 10th November, at ‘Shurnhold Fields’.
The special tree-planting event has been organised by the ‘Friends of Shurnhold Fields’, a group formed of local people to support the ongoing development and maintenence the new mini country park on the site of the former George Ward School playing fields.
The group is looking for volunteers to help on the day with the planting. To register your interest in the community planting event, contact ‘Friends of Shurnhold Fields’ by email: shurnhold fields@gmail.com
The event starts at 10am this Saturday, 10th November at ‘Shurnhold Fields’. Everyone is then invited to the Town Hall from 12pm to 4pm for refreshments and to view the Melksham Remembers exhibition about life in the Melksham community area during the First World War.
More than 10,000 trees are being planted across Wiltshire to remember the Wiltshire soldiers who gave their lives in World War One.
