Two Melksham Girlguiding volunteers attended a VIP event in London’s Leicester Square last month to celebrate their long-standing commitment to Girlguiding.
Christine Glover and Pam Rainsley were invited to the annual awards presentation in London to recognise the voluntary work they have undertaken for the Girlguiding movement over the last 40 years.
Christine has been with Wiltshire South Guides since 1983 and has also been in British Girlguiding Overseas in Germany and Saudi Arabia. Together with her continuing voluntary work with Wiltshire South Girl Guides, she is also the chair of Friends of British Girlguiding Overseas.
Pam has held various roles within the organisation including leader, Queen’s Guide, SS, walking adviser, residential adviser and district commissioner. She is currently the chair of the management committee of the Guide Headquarters facility at Berwick St James.
Christine said, “The purpose of the awards is to give thanks and recognition for those leaders who have given over and beyond what is expected of them. I was truly amazed to have received an invitation to such a prestigious event to celebrate my contribution to Girlguiding over the last 45 years.” Pam discussed the event, saying, “It was a joyful afternoon of celebrating with hundreds of Girlguiding leaders who have given freely of their time and skills to enable members to experience wonderful opportunities and create fabulous lifelong memories.
“Being with a group of amazing high-achieving women was humbling.”
