DO you love your local river and are interested in actively protecting it? Then this might be the project for you!
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has partnered with Wessex Water to set up a network of volunteers across Wiltshire called Water Guardians. Water Guardians monitor rivers, looking out for signs of pollution that can come from various sources. They record wildlife, litter pick and report back to Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. Each volunteer receives training and has regular contact and support from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
Organisers say, “You can take part as an individual, couple, family or community group and we encourage people from all walks of life to become involved. Melksham is a target area and more Water Guardians are needed here, along with Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury. If you are interested in monitoring the rivers in these areas please do get in touch.”
