The Melksham Food and River Festival is returning for its 11th year with live music, river activities, entertainment and food and drink from around the world.
The free-to-enter festival will be held at the King George V Playing Field from Saturday 5th to Sunday 6th September.
Organised by a dedicated team of local volunteers, the festival has become one of the highlights of the town’s calendar.
Organisers say, “Join us for two fantastic days of great food, live music and family fun.
“Wander through a vibrant marketplace of artisan traders and local businesses, discover an incredible range of street food from around the world from Thai, Indian and Vietnamese cuisine to gourmet burgers, Caribbean flavours and sizzling steaks and treat yourself to delicious bakes, ice creams, craft beers and refreshments from our licensed bars.
“Meet local charities and community groups, find out how you can get involved, and enjoy riverside activities including boat trips with the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust and canoe taster sessions and races with Wiltshire Canoe Club.
“With a full programme of live entertainment throughout the weekend, there’s no better place to relax on straw bales, enjoy some fantastic food, and soak up the atmosphere with family and friends.
“The Melksham Food and River Festival is free to enter, full of flavour, and proudly at the heart of our community.”
This year, the bonnie baby competition will take place in the carnival tent. Registration and judging will take place between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 5th September, with the results announced at 3.30pm.
The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust will also be running its popular boat trips, offering slow and scenic journeys upriver. Electric motors will be used to reduce noise and disturbance to wildlife.
The festival will run from 10am to 4.30pm, with stalls opening at 10am and entertainment starting at 11am. Boat trips will operate from around 10.15am to 4pm.
