One of the South West’s most exciting and immersive historical events is returning this August – and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever.
The White Horse Military Show will take place from 15th to 17th August, just outside South Wraxall, between Corsham and Bradford on Avon. Now in its fourth year, the show has rapidly grown into a major attraction, fast becoming the premier Living History festival in the South West.
“This year we have over 800 re-enactors and historians taking part in the show,” said organiser Richard Dalton. “Spread over 50 acres of land with over 33 set builds, three music venues and two arenas with demonstrations and battles, vehicles and aircraft, it is a huge task to put on.

“Spanning 200 years of history, you will be able to see an early American frontier town from the 1880s and then travel to the WWI trenches. After this, visit the 1940s town square with shops and houses and even a cinema. We are also building a Cold War zone including a Berlin Wall installation.
“This is a chance to experience history at first-hand and not from a screen. It is also possible to get an insight of how film sets are made.”
The event is the brainchild of Richard, a professional production designer who creates war documentary dramas. The show was born from his vision to reuse film sets sustainably while making top-quality historical education accessible to everyone.
“I wanted to create a living history festival that was affordable and of the highest standard,” he added. “That’s why tickets are just £15 for adults, with free entry for children.
“We create new sets from film sets and build these life-size dioramas for re-enactors to perform in.
“This event is put together by volunteers and has grown year on year and is now the largest history show in Britain that uses recycled film sets.
“The Living History festival that is the White Horse Military show is a place where you get to experience history in real life – a chance to ‘learn without learning’.
“For anyone passionate about history, military heritage, immersive experiences or just looking for a great day out with the family, the White Horse Military Show 2025 promises to be an unforgettable journey through time.”
Tickets and updates are available via the White Horse Military Show’s website and social media.
