Sisters-in-law Mikayla Ayliffe and Kayleigh Gullis organised a Halloween Bash, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
With cancer now affecting one in two people in the UK, the women decided that they wanted to do something to support Cancer Research UK in their ambition to beat cancer sooner.
Mikayla and Kayleigh said, “The event took place at Spencer Sports & Social Club in Melksham where we were delighted with the turn out and support from over 20 local businesses generously donating their time, expertise and raffle prizes.
“The event was a huge success with local band, Peaky Blinders, getting into the spirit with their fantastic costumes supported by local DJ Emilio and Padfield Porkies making sure nobody went home hungry. What a great evening raising over £5,000, which will make a huge difference in the fight against cancer.
“We would like to thank everyone, who are unfortunately too numerous to mention individually for their support, we could not have done it without you.”
Nick Johnson, Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager in Wiltshire said, Mikayla and Kayleigh are an inspiration and we can’t thank them enough for their commitment to helping Cancer Research UK beat cancer sooner. It was a great achievement uniting the Melksham community for a fantastic night.
“Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of volunteers and supporters like Mikayla and Kayleigh, without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”
