Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision at The Strand on the A361 between Devizes and Trowbridge.
Officers were called, along with paramedics and fire crews, just after 4pm afternoon on Monday 13th February, to the scene near the turning for Great Hinton between Seend and Semington.
The collision involved two vehicles, a Silver BMW Coupe and a Brown Honda Jazz. The BMW is believed to have crossed the solid white lines and into the path of the Honda Jazz travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the BMW, a 21 year old man from Salisbury, suffered a number of internal injuries and broken bones. An 81 year old lady from Trowbridge who was driving the Honda Jazz, also suffered a number of broken bones. Both drivers were taken to hospital where they remain.
The 21 year-old man’s condition (driver of the BMW) is described as critical but stable. The 81 year old-lady (driver of the Honda Jazz) is in a stable condition and is due to undergo surgery. The road was closed until around 10:30pm for collision investigation work.
Investigating officer PC Dean Hall said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on this stretch of road at around 4:00pm yesterday afternoon and may have seen the BMW or Honda Jazz prior to the collision.
“This is the main road between Devizes and Trowbridge and the location of the collision was not far from The Lamb on the Strand pub.”
