LOCAL woodturner Peter Hatherell from Shaw will be giving a demonstration of his skills at the village fete which will be held at the Shaw Village Hall on Saturday 4 June.
Peter is a member of the Kennet and Avon Woodturning Club whose members have been very busy during the last month making turned pieces for him to sell at the fete with all proceeds being donated to the Ukrainian Appeal.
The club meets at St John Church Hall, Upper Studley, Trowbridge on the second Thursday of each month starting at 7:15pm. New members are always made welcome whether you are a novice or indeed a professional turner.
The club offers guidance and tuition to anyone that is considering taking up woodturning regardless of age and gender. Please contact Phil on 01225 763540 or George on 01380 727426 if you should have any questions.
Club members were treated to a masterclass demonstration by club member Ken Crittle, who made a three-part Goblet, at their club meeting on the evening of Thursday 12 May.
Philip Lobb, the club’s press officer, said, “Ken who lives at Market Lavington is an accomplished woodturner; his work is both fine and intricate and the quality of his finished pieces can only be described as outstanding.”
