PLANS for this year’s Melksham Carnival are hotting up, with organisers promising a day full of fun, entertainment and surprises for all the family – but help is still needed for the big day.
Organisers of the carnival are appealing for volunteers to be marshals on the day and for anyone interested in participating in the procession on a float or as a walking group to register their interest as soon as possible.
Committee member Christine York said, “This year’s procession is shaping up to be another great event – we have had some good entries so far. The Devizes Male Majorettes will be taking part and there will be lots of familiar faces on the floats, as well as some new faces, and maybe even some surprises.
“We are always in need of people to help on the day, so if people are able to give their time to be marshals, we would be really grateful.”
Before the procession the Family Fun Day will once again be held in King George V playing field. “The fun day is packed full of events and attractions for the family,” said Christine. “There will be a dog show, baby competition, children’s rides and Fantasy Radio from Devizes will be broadcasting live from the event.”
The official free Melksham Carnival & Fun Day programme is now available in shops across the town, which contains details of the annual popular ‘Spot the Oddity’ competition. Entry is £1 and there is a £50 prize for the winner.
Melksham Carnival and Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday 28th July. For more information and to contact the committee, visit: www.melkshamcarnival.co.uk
