TWO youth charities in Melksham are joining forces to create a community garden ahead of Britain in Bloom’s 60th anniversary next year.
4Youth (South West) and Spurgeon’s Children’s Charity of Melksham are creating the community garden at the back of 4Youth (South West) in Spa Road, consisting of wildflowers, seating areas as well as sensory spaces, raised beds and long grass for all to enjoy.
“We have just completed phase one of the project which was carried out by South Southern Electric (SSE) as part of their voluntary community work, who did a great job at cutting down all of the brambles and stripping the area right back,” says 4 Youth’s charity manage, Jessica Hilsdon. “On behalf of both charities, we would like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work and time. Our area for development now looks even bigger!”
A local dog walker said, “Me and Max can’t wait for the area to be developed and finished; it will make such an impact to us dog walkers having something so lovely to walk through and look at.”
The garden is being designed as a useable space for both charities to carry out their work with children and young people in the community.
“We are reaching out to the local community and anyone that would like to help support this project whether it be businesses or individuals looking to give us a hand, please get in touch: gardenproject@ 4youth.org. uk” added Jessica.
