AT the recent Melksham Without Parish Annual Meeting, the council gave £14,300 in grants to community organisations.
Those who benefitted quite considerably from the grants were Bowerhill Village Hall Trust who received £2,700 and Shaw Hill Playing Field & Village Trust who received £3,500.
Chair of Melksham Without Parish Council, Richard Wood said, “The grants are awarded to community groups and organisations that demonstrate a benefit to the residents of Melksham Without.
“This year, we decided to hand out the grants at our annual meeting and made it more of a social event. It was a brilliant chance for like-minded groups to get together and network. We are delighted with how it went and will be doing it again.
“The money really makes such a huge difference to the groups. They thoroughly deserve the help because of what they do for the community. I would definitely encourage groups to apply for the grants.”
The next round of grants will be for 2017/18 and the deadline for applications is 31st January 2017.
