The meeting was opened by our president Sylvia, who welcomed all to our 55th Birthday, all members, guests and our V.C.O. Mrs Margaret Miles, we then started with the singing of Jerusalem, we were all in good voice.
Lin and Marilyn continue to visit Mavern house where they made lavender bags, which went down will with the residents, next time they will be doing some cooking.
After going through our various correspondence, we welcomed our speaker Mrs Jeannie Meekin talking on Saris. Well this was such an enlightening talk, she showed us many, many Saris all very different, cottons, silks, winter and summer weights. Then we got to try them on – what an experience. Five ladies took part with Jeannie as our personal dresser. They were amazing the colours were so beautiful, and of course one size fits all, so you don’t struggle with the sizing, what a bonus!
We rounded of the evening with a buffet and a delicious cake made my Lin, the cake was cut by Carol our longest serving member (not the oldest). We all had a very enjoyable evening.
Our next meeting will be on the 14th November the speaker will be from Age UK on growing older.
