Melksham Motor Spares proudly presented a cheque for £6,590.21 to Dorothy House on February 25th following successful year of fundraising for the charity.
The company initially took on the challenge from Dorothy House to raise £1,000. Financial director, Alison Cook said, “When Dorothy House first invited us to try and raise £1,000 we felt this was an achievable amount and we were happy to accept.
“For our final total to have been more than six times this amount has been amazing. We are incredibly grateful to our brilliant staff, their families and friends and of course our fantastic customers and suppliers who have supported our efforts so whole-heartedly.”
Managing director, Phil Dodd added, “The response from everyone has been overwhelming. People’s generosity for such a wonderful, locally- based charity has been humbling, we really can’t thank everyone enough.”
Fundraising events throughout 2015 included a prize draw, sky diving, a charity cycle ride, sponsored head shave and a treadmill challenge.
The cheque was presented during a visit to Dorothy House in Winsley where they had a tour of the facilities. They were shown how and where the donation would be spent.
Tanya Elling, who helped co-ordinate the fundraising said, “Understanding more about the incredible work done by Dorothy House and seeing firsthand what a welcoming, friendly, uplifting place the hospice at Winsley is, was incredibly heart-warming. Melksham Motor Spares are proud to be supporters of such a wonderful, local charity.”
