LOCAL 8-year-old Noah Osborne ended last year on a high, winning a gold medal in Jiu-Jitsu in the English Open.
Noah is part of Gracie Barra Melksham, a Jiu-jitsu school in the town. His father Jamie Osborne said, “Since joining the team at Gracie Barra Melksham Noah has gone from being very reserved and quiet to becoming an English champion in a little under a year all because of the great team that surround him.
“Not only has he learned self-defence but he has also learned respect, humility and appreciation for those around him all of which transfer into his life outside of the mats.
“The school is not only a group of students but a group of great friends who we look forward to training with every day. Myself and Noah both train a number of times a week and although he has more medals than me, occasionally he does let me beat him!”
Competitions Noah competed in last year include the Bristol Pro, where he won bronze; Dorset and Hampshire Open where he won gold; No-Gi competition where he won silver and bronze; Empire Grappling Wales where he won double bronze and the Oxford open winning gold in the kimono and silver in the N-Gi.
