A LOCAL schoolgirl has been raising awareness about the war in Ukraine by making blue and yellow ribbon badges for people to wear as a show of support.
About the efforts of her granddaughter, nine-year-old Lilly Norris, Rosemary Skyrme said, “Lilly thought it would be good for us here to think about the suffering and hardships endured by people in Ukraine, so she made these ribbon badges for her friends, family and neighbours to wear as a token to show we care about them all.
“The badges were not intended as fund raisers, though of course donations of any kind are always helpful.
“As her grandma, I was touched and impressed by her initiative and effort to think about others in their terrible situations, and to encourage others to do the same. A small gesture perhaps amongst much larger ones, but I thought it was a kind and thoughtful one, for such a young person to consider others far less fortunate than herself.”
“We should do all we can to think about the people in Ukraine, especially the children,” added Lilly.
