A Melksham volunteer who has dedicated nearly 15 years to supporting people living with multiple sclerosis has been recognised for his long service.
Mike Park, who is 90, has played a key technical role at Wessex MS Therapy Centre in Warminster, helping to maintain the systems that support oxygen therapy for members.
As a mark of recognition for his service, he was invited to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. He was accompanied by Sarah Williamson, Deputy Director of The Wessex MS Therapy Centre.
Fundraising and events coordinator for the centre, Amanda Strong, said, “Thanks to the dedication of volunteers like Mike, around 120 people each week are able to access oxygen therapy and ongoing support that helps improve their quality of life.

“Mike’s invitation to Buckingham Palace was a very well-deserved recognition of many years of tireless service to the charity and its members.”
Wessex MS Therapy Centre offers oxygen therapy for people living with other debilitating conditions.
Amanda said, “Mike’s role is both highly demanding and critically important, overseeing the complex technical systems required to safely deliver oxygen therapy to our members, while also showing great care and compassion to the people who rely on the centre every day.
“Delivering oxygen therapy requires an advanced and carefully managed technical system, and Mike’s expertise has been invaluable in ensuring the smooth and safe running of the service. He oversees the entire oxygen operation on a completely voluntary basis, dedicating two full days each week to the centre, attending additional meetings and always making himself available in emergencies.”
