MELKSHAM Town Crier, Peter Dauncey, and his wife Joan, who escorts him representing Melksham at competitions won the prestigious John Newell Shield award as best dressed couple at the Ilmington town crier championships.
Joan and Peter are one of the best dressed couples in the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers. In 2017 they won best dressed couple no less than five times, with Peter winning Best Dressed Crier four times and Joan taking four best dressed escort trophies.
