A VACANCY for a town councillor has become available in Melksham South Ward following the sad passing of cllr Andy Hinchcliffe.
Andy served as a member of Melksham Town Council from May 2013 and sadly died at his home on September 27th. The funeral was held on Tuesday 24th October at West Wiltshire Crematorium, Semington.
An election will be held if ten registered electors write to the returning officer, Dr Carlton Brand, at Wiltshire Council requesting that a local election be held before the end of January 2018. The requests must be received by Thursday 23rd December.
If electors do not request an election, the town council will fill the vacancy via co-option.
