MELKSHAM police seized a large quantity of cultivated cannabis plants from an address in Melksham on Friday 26th January, resulting in the arrest of a 40-year-old man.
Melksham Police said, “Officers from the community tasking team and the local community policing team carried out a drugs warrant at an address in Melksham at approximately 8.30am this morning (Friday 26th January). Cannabis plants were found growing in the loft and in an outhouse. There are believed to be approximately 200 plants. A BMW was also seized from the address. Enquiries are ongoing at the property. One man, aged in his 40s, has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and remains in Melksham custody at this time.”
Detective Sergeant Anthony King of the Community Tasking Team said, “Community intelligence plays a vital role in warrants of this nature – it is really important that members of the public continue to report any suspected drug activity to police so we can build an intelligence picture and act appropriately on the information we receive. This was a successful warrant with one man arrested and a number of plants seized.”
