MARTIAL arts teacher, Jack Butler, braved the shave to raise over £1,300 for ‘Doing it for Dan’ a charity set up in memory of Daniel Climance, a young boy who was tragically killed in 2015.
During Leadership Martial Arts group’s black belt presentation evening on Saturday 28th April, Jack took on a big personal challenge to shave his head for charity. With Jack being very fond of his signature locks, it was a big sacrifice.
He raised £370 in sponsorship, plus £200 sponsorship from his employers at Royal Mail and over £700 was raised on the evening, totalling at least £1,300.
Jack said, “I’m very happy and so is the charity with what was raised. I was hoping we could get close to £1,000 so to achieve more than that was a pleasant surprise.
“It really felt like weight being lifted as it came off, the floor was covered by the end and looked more like a big dog had been shaved than just my head! It is admittedly very cold now compared to having my head full of hair, but it was worth it.
“I was in very capable hands with an award-winning hairdresser and fellow 3rd Degree Black belt doing the shave. It was videoed by a room full of people that can now be viewed on Facebook.”
