Children across Melksham are gearing up for The Great Science Share for Schools – the national campaign to inspire young people to share their science learning with new audiences.
This celebration of science will take place at The Melksham Oak Community School on Tuesday 9th July. Children from 10 primary schools from the Melksham area will be coming together to share their scientific questions and investigations with each other and special guests as part of a national campaign to inspire young people in science and engineering
Local organiser of the Great Science Share in Melksham, Carol Sampey said, “We are very excited to be part of something so big that places children’s own questions and investigations at the centre of the event. Already the children are looking into their scientific ideas. It’s been brilliant hearing their ideas, as science communication is a vital skill that we really value. The Great Science Share for Schools creates the perfect opportunity for children to do this with national support!”
Founded by SEERIH at The University of Manchester, the Great Science Share for Schools provides a range of resources to support teachers and colleagues interested in developing STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) education. This year there has been even more involvement from industry and universities with #AskAQuestion, through which scientists and engineers can share their journeys into STEM.
