“EXCITING” plans for the sensory garden in King George V playing field were praised at a recent town council meeting.
The new area, which is located on the right-hand side of the park has been under development for the past year – so far, 6,000 native bulbs have been planted, a raised bund has been created, and tree saplings have been planted to enhance the woodland area.
At last month’s King George V sub-committee meeting, a report by the town council’s community development officer, Miriam Zaccarelli and horticulturalist, Richard Collett, revealed plans for shrubs to be planted to “demarcate” the sensory garden, wildflower planting, the relocation of the Millennium Mosaic, which is currently in storage, and the installation of picnic benches and new benches.
“For minimal cost, we are producing an area for the park that will be really, really lovely,” said chair of the committee, cllr Adrienne Westbrook, who praised the plans as something the whole community could look forward to.
Councillors will confirm the plans for the sensory garden at the next King George V sub-committee meeting.
