MELKSHAM Cricket Club is appealing for dog owners to be more responsible when using their grounds.
The club’s grounds team is asking that owners pick up dog mess and vary the route they use to walk around the field, located to the rear of Melksham House, to allow for the grass to recover.
The club says, “Please could dog owners please pick up their dog mess. We have noticed an increase and may not have the ground in use at the moment, but to have those exercising using our space step in it and around the place isn’t pleasant. Also this mess contains other health issues should a child accidentally fall or step in it. Please be a responsible owner and pick up after your pet.
“We also note that owners seem to be walking the same route around the field – please could we ask owners to change the route to a less trodden area to rest the grass and allow it to recover. Thank you for your support.”
