MELKSHAM Town Council is exploring the possibility of using the Roundhouse building as a space for a cash deposit machine for traders or a parcel collection point for residents.
“The Roundhouse [in Church Street] is a redundant Grade II listed building in the town. It has no current use and is very small,” said the proposal put to council by cllr Phil Alford, which suggests that the town council’s clerk explores options for the future use of the building.
The proposal continues, “[The Roundhouse could be used] as a suitable location for a cash deposit machine for traders and residents, or failing that another simple deposit/collection service that does not negatively impact traders, e.g. Amazon parcels, Hermes collection etc.
“It will provide an import service to residents and traders. The last of the town’s high street bank branches is due to close.”
It was unanimously resolved at the town council’s asset management and amenities committee last month, that the town clerk begins investigations into the proposal.
