A FUNDRAISING auction at St. Michael’s Church has raised over £6,600 for its renovation project of a Grade II listed building on Canon Square, which the church has recently purchased.
Guests attended the auction on Friday 29th November, which was hosted by the TV star Paul Martin, who presents the antiques programme Flog it!
Items auctioned at the event included a day at Bath Racecourse, a holiday in the Cotswolds, a tour of Highgrove gardens, golfing at The Manor House, a hot air balloon ride, and several high-end dining experiences.
The funds raised will go towards the church’s Building to Serve project, which began at the end of September, to refurbish the empty and derelict Grade II listed building at 11 Canon Square into affordable accommodation as well as flexible working space for local charities and the growing children and youth’s church at St Michael’s Church.
The church team needs to raise £500,000 for the project.
Rev Charlie Thomson said, “We have raised a large percentage of our target through the generosity of grants, individuals and local businesses but still need more help to get us over the line.
“I would like to give a big thanks to all the businesses and individuals who have generously donated items for the auction and to Paul for agreeing to be our auctioneer.
“It was a fantastic evening in a wonderful festive setting in the church with the opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents that will benefit the local community.”
