NEARLY £300 has been raised by the Kennet & Avon Woodturning Club to support Ukrainian children affected by the war.

To raise the money – a total of £270 – the club sold woodturning pieces at Shaw and Whitley’s summer fair, held in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The club reports, “The Kennet & Avon Woodturning Club has been very busy during the last couple of months making turned pieces for club member Peter Hatherell who lives at Shaw, to sell at his village fete, which was held at the Shaw Village Green on Saturday 4th June.
“Peter gave several woodturning demonstrations throughout the day whilst fellow club member Derrick Weston assisted with the selling of turned items and answering questions from the many visitors to the stand. All proceeds from the sales of the turned work were donated to the Ukrainian Children’s Appeal.”
