COMING up this month at the Melksham Monday Movies Club at the Assembly Hall are screenings of Charlotte Gray and Stardust.
First up is Charlotte Gray on Monday 5th June. Directed by Gillian Armstrong this film from 2001 and is about a young Scottish woman who joins the French Resistance during World War II to rescue her Royal Air Force boyfriend who is lost in France. It stars Cate Blanchett, James Fleet and Abigail Cruttenden and is written by Sebastian Faulks and Jeremy Brock.
On 19th June, there will be a screening of Stardust. This film from 2007 is directed by Matthew Vaughn and is set in a countryside town bordering on a magical land, where a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he’ll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. It stars Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller, Ricky Gervais, Jason Flemyng, Rupert Everett, Peter O’Toole, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro, with narration by Ian McKellen.
Doors for both showings open at 1.30pm and the films start at 2pm. There is a break for tea or coffee and a chance to catch up with friends, before finishing around 4pm. Admission is by donation, with a suggestion of £4.
