FAMILY charity, Home-Start North Wiltshire (HS) has extended its service to Melksham and are currently recruiting home-visiting, community and group volunteers.
The charity, which supports families with children under five who are experiencing difficult times, already helps families in Devizes, Calne, Chippenham, Marlborough, Tidworth and Pewsey.
Volunteers visit families for two to three hours a week and give free emotional and practical support to help them cope with challenges they are facing. These include isolation, poor health, children with additional needs, financial worries, and multiple birth. Demand is rising with the number of families supported this year already double the previous year.
HS Fundraiser, Joanne Kent, said, “We’re delighted that by extending our service to Melksham, we can help even more Wiltshire families. Through our dedicated team of volunteers, we give free support, without judgement. Support is tailored to family need and could be anything from helping a family build their confidence, accompanying them to a toddler group or just being a listening ear.
“We’re incredibly grateful to The Henry Smith Charity whose funding has made this possible.”
